“The soldier was completely devoid of understanding as to the aggressive plans of his king, as if the soldier had come suddenly from a very different world and could not and wanted not to adapt - was it not after all the easiest thing in the world to keep peace with someone and to chat with him merrily?

“There are enough beautiful things in the world and between man. Why make war with oneis friends; this is truly no uplifting idea!”
Thus or the like spoke the soldiers to their king.

“Yet Helgi could not give up; again and again he tried his persuasion - harsh words did not help at all - with explanations: no one cared, his words were obviously not inspiring and positive enough - and with supplication: now at least everyone felt pity with their confused king.

“Finally Helgi insisted in his office of a king and the legitimacy of his power, and his soldiers looked at him in disbelief, ”Every man is a king, this is the truth,” they all answered, ”arenit you a king too that you have doubt?”

“In the meantime Savala, with her supernormal powers, brought forth one more group of golden soldiers, with a silvery-white glory around their head - armed with golden shields and golden spears, shining like the sun in the sky.

“And when Helgi implored his soldiers to at least have a look at these warriors, even if they did not think of fighting them, first some of his soldiers, and then gradually the whole army, started to look at the golden, shining heroes.

And they could not turn their beaming eyes anymore from these sun-like men, and their king could not approach them anymore, because all the time they kept, full of bliss, their eyes on these mighty heroes in the golden armour and the silver-white glory.
“So the soldiers remained motionless. And whatever the mighty conqueror Helgi tried, it was of no avail - his soldiers did not move anymore as if they did not hear him at all, as if his permanent talking did not make any sense to them, indeed as if he did not exist for them anymore; all the time they continued to gaze at the golden, radiant warriors.

“Then the one hundred and eight sons - with all their abilities and with bright senses and crystal-clear faculty of cognition - rushed to Sehermund.
“Sehermund sang a short, delicate tone, and all the sons of Helgi were freed from the chains of fate; all their desires which they had cultivated in the course of their long way of fate were at once completely fulfilled with this sound.

“When Helgi saw his sons thus raised from the class of warriors, he was deeply ashamed; absorbed in thought he returned to his capital and raised the only son, that still belonged to the class of warriors, to the throne. This son had stayed behind to run the affairs of the king's government as long as his father and his brothers were away.

“Then Helgi went to the mountains and began to perform great personal sacrifices in order to ask his ancestor Uller to grant him a boon.
“After some time his gracious ancestor appeared. Helgi asked him for a bow and for arrows with secret powers, and he was given what he had asked for.

“Equipped with these supernormal weapons, Helgi attacked Sehermundis hermitage again.
Full of fear all the ascetics fled into the woods when he attacked, although Sehermund tried to comfort them and asked them to stay.
“Helgi shot his excellent weapon against the hermit.

But Sehermund caught the arrows, which turned into splendid flowers right before him, playfully with his hand and arranged them into a beautiful, colourful bouquet.
“In that manner the stubborn attitude of the mighty warrior Helgi, the great conqueror and unlimited ruler over the entire earth, was purified.

“Shame over the power of the warriors, kings and heroes! Somehow I have to obtain wisdom!” called Helgi so that everyone in the world could hear it.
