The wealth of a king and his people lies outside - the wealth of a sage, however, within; but this does not mean - as the example of the cow Savala shows - that the sage could not, if he deems it appropriate, procure immeasurable outer riches, riches which many times surpass even the riches of a king.

“Yet the sage normally does not make use of these abilities for in his complete fulfilment he does not yearn for such goods.

Thus he apparently lives in all outer modesty on whatever nature provides.

“However, the sage proves in no way modest when it comes to the inner values of life - truth, immortality, omniscience, omnipotence, and infinite bliss.

Here only the highest is good enough because he knows that these values of infinity alone guarantee him that complete freedom which he needs for his personal life and work.
