Two Manifestations of the Chase of Cognition |

At that moment suddenly an immense gale roared by, sending huge masses of clouds from the left. In those greyblack water-bearers raged lightning and thunder. A gigantic, fiery boar rushed forth from the clouds straight towards Mani and Sol, and behind him stately horsemen in full armour came chasing along. The boar drove boisterous storms of fire in front of him. A horseman
in a deepblue coat on a pale horse led the warriors. Noisily the wild flying host of armoured hunters drew near. As they chased along, ever larger masses of water generated under the glowing hooves of the stallions; they burst forth from the clouds and poured down on the wood. On the billowing frothing waves of these floods the horses came riding
along. Mani was terrified and recoiled from the wild host; but her brother
comforted her. “Follow this practical rule and these illusions cannot harm you: you must continue your way unperturbed and without fear. If, however, the events assail you too hard then simply sit down, close your eyes and think of nothing; you will see that everything vanishes, and you can continue your way unhindered. “But mind you of one thing: do not allow any of these illusions to involve you in any action - donit follow anyone, donit run away from anyone; donit try to take any influence anywhere, donit get entangled in the events you experience here - no matter how overwhelmingly they press on you: simply go your way or just sit down, close your eyes and think of nothing; then everything will disappear more pleasant than it arrived.” |
