“When Helgi found the sage so reluctant, he simply took the cow away.

With tears the cow thought, ”Has the master really given me away? Why do the servants of the king drag me?”

“So Savala tore herself away from the servants of Helgi, ran to Sehermund and asked, ”Did you give me away? Royal servants drag me off by force.”

“Sehermund answered worriedly, ”No, Savala, I did not give you away. You have done me no harm. The king is taking you away from me by force. My power is not up to his. See, he has elephants, horses, chariots and a huge army. He is a warrior and a conqueror of the earth.

Furthermore he is my guest, and it is not right to violate the right of hospitality.”

“Savala said modestly, ”O great master, the might of a warrior is naturally great, but greater is the might of a sage; the power of a sage is supernormal and therefore surpasses that of a warrior.

Although Helgi is powerful beyond measure, he is not equal to you.
“Through your grace I can work wonders like the creator himself.

With your permission I will destroy all the efforts of this deluded king and wipe out his immeasurable thirst for power.”
“So Sehermund ordered his cow Savala to produce soldiers to destroy Helgi's army.

“With her supernormal powers Savala immediately created a number of deep-blue warriors - dark as the night.
And Helgi began furiously to attack these black warriors; but deep sleep settled over his whole army.

“Immediately Savala created two new groups of deep-blue warriors - as dark and yet as bright as the deep-blue night flashed through by lightning.
